About Build Time Freedom

Kim Clayton
Project Manager. Systems Builder. Founder of Build Time Freedom.
I work with experienced professionals over 40 who are looking for second career online business ideas that don't require constant hustle.
Systems. Perspective. And the Freedom to Choose Your Time.
I didn’t start in the online world.
Based in South Africa, for over two decades, I worked inside a global multi-energy corporation, building and managing operational systems across Southern Africa. I led regional teams, oversaw multiple depots and distributors, managed significant budgets, and delivered complex engineering and infrastructure projects.
From underground surveying in gold mines to regional sales leadership and project management, my career was built on systems, accountability, and execution.
On paper, it looked solid.
But something was missing.
The Quiet Realisation
Twice in my career, I was offered a national leadership role — and twice, due to corporate restructuring, the opportunity disappeared before it was finalized.
There was no drama.
Just clarity.
I had travelled more than 180 nights a year. Worked through leave. Carried responsibility beyond my title. Yet my time was never truly mine.
That’s when I began thinking differently — strategically. I moved out of the corporate world and became a project management consultant. That move created the opportunity to develop Build Time Freedom as a systems management consultancy focusing on solopreneurs and business systems.
If I could build complex systems for corporations, I could build simple systems for myself.
What I Discovered About Online Business
When I entered the online space, I expected structure.
Instead, I found:
Overcomplicated tech stacks
Expensive tools layered on more tools
Gatekeepers selling access to basic information
Hype without operational clarity
But the best systems are simple:
Identify the problem.
Design the solution.
Build the process.
Execute consistently.
That’s it.
Why Build Time Freedom Exists
Build Time Freedom helps solopreneurs over 40 build reliable systems that give them control over their time.
Not hustle.
Not chaos.
Not endless tool-switching.
Systems.
I don’t believe in working harder.
I believe in building smarter systems that work for you.
Time freedom isn’t about doing nothing.
It’s about deciding what you do with your day.
It’s about being the owner — not the overwhelmed operator.
Experience That Shapes My Approach
My background includes:
Turnaround consulting across Southern Africa
Managing multiple depots and regional sales teams
Leading operations across more than a dozen facilities
Overseeing mechanical and infrastructure projects
Budget management, compliance, and risk control
Mentoring technical and sales professionals
I hold a Project Management certification from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
In corporate life, I was often the troubleshooter.
Today, I apply that same discipline online:
Simplify.
Structure.
Execute.
A Personal Note
Time matters to me.
When you spend years traveling and carrying responsibility, you understand the cost of success without control.
Nature resets me.
Hiking restores perspective.
Silence sharpens thinking.
Rowing taught me something important:
You move faster when the team rows in rhythm — but each person still owns their stroke.
That’s how I work with clients.
We move forward together.
But you remain the decision-maker.
If any part of this sounds familiar — the capability without the control, the success without the freedom — then you already understand why this work matters.
Who I Work With
I work with solopreneurs over 40 who:
Feel overwhelmed by online complexity
Want structure, not noise
Are thinking long-term — stability, security, freedom
Value steady progress over hype
Most don’t need motivation.
They need clarity.
